I just listened to the audio demo of the SD5K and I'm not impressed.
The dynamics of the sounds reminds of the first electronic kits of the 80's.
By now they should be able to make the dynamics less machinegun like, I mean it's 2006...
You mention that you shouldn't compare it to the drums that Simmons used to make, but
that's what people are going to do since the SD5K has the Simmons name on it.
I personally would like to see someone make a software version of the Simmons SDS-
modules, that way you could connect your pads to a laptop and get all the classic sounds.
I know I would be in drumming heaven.
Should you decide to get SD5K I wish you the best of luck.
