Hi!

It depends on what you favour. If you enjoy crappy lo-fi digital drums it's
like heaven. If you're into hi-tech, acoustic drum-like sounds it's like
hell. But basically, Simmons fans have a tendency to enjoy vintage and
quirky gear. ;)

I especially enjoy (like I mentioned before) ripping old scanners apart to
use the font proms as sound proms. It often has nasty snares and submarine
pings on them. Combined with an EPB you can sample whatever you like and
tweak down the speed to get that crunch which is sooooo lovely...

I'm working on a track right now which make use of both my SDS-1's and it
sounds a lot like a Pearl Syncussion run through a bit reducer.

Used like originally designed (for tom sounds, claps, hits and splashes) I
think it's just "OK". Used as lo-fi drums and sound effects it's amazing,
especially if you can combine it with an EPB and a set of spare eproms.

electronically yours, jesper
