yes his name is joe ... about three years ago i began a search to acquire a couple of syndrums, someone on the web saw my notice and the next thing i know is that joe pollard himself contacted me ... we spoke on the telephone for about an hour, he is a very fascinating man ... in the end, however, he let me down. he had a few prototype units that he told me he would sell to me but they were in storage somewhere in california ... he kept promising but whenever i would contact him about it he told me that he was very busy and couldn't get to the storage facility ... he ended up donating everything that he had to an electronics museum. i wasn't angry, just disappointed
because i am sure the condition of his rig was perfect, whereas on eBay the condition of these amazing drums vary from drum to drum and module to module. might you have a photo of your syndrum rig that you can share with me? any for sale? thanks

until recently a Syndrum Twin too. But the pads belonging to it can control
other stuff too of course... I think they look amazing in clear acrylic
shells.

stop me from playing Simmons live the day I'll gig
again is the sheer fact that my Pollard pads are so damn beautiful! ;)

I play Simmons live, however I play them in discos and nightclubs where they
go over like gangbusters.

I¹ll use either my SDS V or 8, syncussion and acoustic snare/cymbals.
Occasionally some drunk ass snickers at the hexes, but that¹s why I mix for
sheer brutality. I¹ve seen a few recent videos where the drummer mimes on a
rented hex kit, but that trend seems to be based largely on them serving as
visual signifiers for all things ³new wave² or ³80¹s². I actually play
mine.

I also see myself performing a kind of educational service to younger
musicians. I recall the very confused-looking goth kid who could not wrap
his head around the concept of analog and kept asking me about my ³samples².

I say go for it. Then again, I¹m a very ³out² Simmons player no secret
shame here.
