Subject: SDSV/8 for borrow/rent in Belgium?

From: "I. Clark" <perspects@...>
Date: 2006-03-26

Hey all,

I guess this is a two-part inquiry:

In preparation for an upcoming tour (summer/fall), I¹m doing a one-off gig
in Liege mid-April and I will need an SDSV or equivalent (since I cannot
bring my own). Would any of you lovely lowlands users be willing to part
with your baby for a couple days? I can assure you it will be cared for
with the same degree of love I shower on my own.

Now, I was able to find a backline company with an SDS 8 for rent. My next
question is: sonically, how does the 8 compare to the V (apart from the
obvious bend-up conspicuously missing from the V)? If my estimations are
correct, the 8 seems like a more road-worthy version of the V¹s synth engine
(sans the modularity and patch storage). Since the 8¹s are more common and
often go for less than half the cost of the V, it seems like acquiring one
for live usage would solve my transportation dilemma. Any opinions?

I don¹t know what the backline company is charging for rental, I do know our
budget may prohibit us from paying top dollar. I¹m hoping to appeal to the
philanthropic generosity of my hexophile brethren in the area (Maastricht,
Aachen, Brussels, Flanders, etc.). If interested in coming to the show, I¹m
sure it would be no problem (plus, all the Hoegaarden you can drink).

Thanks for looking!

-Ian
