as they say on the tin??
kind of
for myself i'm not lloking for recreating the accoustic drum but the ability to mix samples and and by hit a pad in a particular place trigger a particular sound is why i went fo r the sdx once they became cheap enough
they play as good or bad depending on your view point as normal sds7/9/1000 type pads - -the cymbals are a bit wierd very akin to playing normal cymbals with silence pads on them in so far as you can't dig into a ride cymbal
back when i played more i had a vey boom crash beatbox style with little in the way of rudiments noodles and twiddly bits theze days i'm playing my sons kit the sdx sat upstairs in the bedroom packed away due to lack of space so i'm find ing playing a little different these days
however once i unpack it again i'll want to make strange and wierd sounds and maybe the odd bit of rythm too
