You should be able to add newer SCSI drives. However, the SDX may only
use up to a certain size, depending on how "clever" the operating system
is.

SCSI drives use linear sector numbering, with the controller (these days
it's on the drive, back then it may have been a separate board) taking
care of mapping sector numbers to cylinder, head and sector numbers,
mapping out bad blocks, etc. If the software was designed with only a
couple of drives in mind, it may not request the disk information properly
and will just assume that it's hooked to a 20M drive, for instance.

Of course, you could remove the hard disk and attach it to a SCSI adaptor
in a PC to read the contents. You would probably not be able to mount it
but you could use dd to copy an image of the disk, which you could write
back to another disk - handy for making backups.

Are there any floppy disk images about for the SDX? Is there any
documentation on the software used?

Gordon.
