Subject: Re: Simmons prices and quality

Hi all

I apparently gave the wrong impression. I would MUCH rather have a
Simmon SDS6 than an Oberkorn sequencer. However, I was really getting
at the heavy-weight price E 917.00 £630.00 that Ebay.de punters
are prepared to go to. I feel it has much to do with the auction
format (once in, reluctant to drop out) and the way ebay is
structured.

To keep this relevant to Simmons I worry that Simmons products will
become the preserve of non-musical collectors who will package them
up rather than using them MUSICALLY. I also get a little ticked off
with 'the "hack" Pro view' that the Simmons sound is jaded, trite,
passe', unfashionable etc because as the SDS7 can demonstate the
sounds are really as flexible powerful and dirty as you want to mix,
process or crunch them.

And yes the SDS7 is both ananlogue and digital but the overall
consensus seemed to be that the analogue SDS5 has more WHUMP than the
analogue section of the SDS7 ...
