Subject: [Simmons Drums] SDX schematics (was Re: Got a virus through the newsgroup !)

I think it would be great for someone to post the SDX schematics. There are patents and
copyrights for all the Simmons gear. The equipment is aging, and this forum and the
posting of these manuals and schematics are all we have to keep our equipment going.
<<<<<<<you're right on that point...

It annoys me to see people on eBay selling the manuals and schematics - they certainly
don't own the copyrights to them. They are just ripping off anyone that buys them.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<I agree, 20 dollars for ten pages is a bit a scandal especially when they're unreadable<<<<
<<<<<<<<but in the same time , these guys allowed some solutions for us to maintain our loved simmons ...
I agree it's too expensive , but why would they do it for free ; it's so much time consuming...
it's true , they probably thought "business" more than "let's save the old Simmons units "

I think
it's great that many involved in this forum have made some of them available to us.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<it's true, but I hesitate to compare the SDX to anything else...

Patrice, I understand that you may have spent some money to acquire your copy of the
SDX schematics. We all have invested money on Simmons products. I think this kind of
exchange of data and information is what makes this a great community.

<<<<<<<<<<<Yes but take care to the internet "free" syndrom , we all want everything for free now...I find it weird even if I like it in another way... <<<<<

I say post the
SDX schematic and help some fellow SDX users out -

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<I won't have time to scan 172 pages, I haven't a scanner anyway , but I did 3 copies & it took me already 3hours !!!
I never hesitated to buy them so much expensive, because it was necessary to get them to maintain my SDX...
a few people wanted them & found them too expensive...I'm smiling , cause if it's avoiding people to send an sdx back to UK,
the cost is worthwhile...I know my unit came back 3 times to SIMMONS from France ...that's why I bought schematics
But I understand it's expensive for just paper, therefore how much is costing the knowledge in it ?
(remember it's that SDX research that made Simmons in huge trouble & closing "SImmons limited"...)<<<<<<<<<<<<<

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<I say that but I realise I never actually sold them , I did 2 times some trade for other simmons gear ...
I feel that more sain , it's a real exchange ...there's a contact between people ...no money in the game , but a value...
a free distributor is anonymous & you can't control who is loading & for what...
I doubt about the community 's feeling there ...
I'm OK for small machines, advertising, photos MP3's etc...that's Great !
but about the SDX it seems to me different. The SDX is the Fairlight of EDrums .

I don't wanna see an expensive quote on the sdx , but I don't wanna see it without value anymore...
Dave told me often that the Drummers as a small market , the Edrummers an even smaller one & that everyone want the supermachine for no money...
That's what made him stop the business too ...
We 'd like him to be still in business...but it won't be ever more possible in that conditions ..

I didn't meet many fellows SDX users maybe one .in Europe....
the others I know are either big professionnals or passionated people by the instrument .
I consider there could (should ) be a SDX user group because this machine is very exceptionnal.
I own nearly all of the other simmons models, I couldn't describe what means the SDX, compared to the other pieces of gear ...
It makes look them like gadgets. a bit like you see a Fairlight , by the side of a Roland ...

That's why I hope someone will be able to devellop again the unfinished software... I have a friend who might, I hope he will have time one day ...<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

It would definitely be appreciated.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< NO doubt <<<<<< but where is the exchange on such a piece of knowledge ,
it's just an idea but we need maybe to create a custom sound bank in exchange of documents so important...
that would create a dynamic & would make people responsive about downloading ...
We probably need to think about it to make it fair , & Paul what do you think about all that ?

Anyway , I wish to hear that machine again...I doubt Native Instrument ever do a Virtual SDX Soft as it has been a too small production...
so we have to find some solutions to push each member of this small community to use it & show the world how it sounds like ...

I realise that I know about 14 SDX users (via mail & in France, UK , US, Italy , Germany...) & that about 230 units have been built , where are you all ?

have a nice day,
Patrice.
