That's interesting .. I had a feeling I.T. might be SDS-7. There's
something about the sound that doesn't seem possible to get with the
SDSV.
>>>>>> The Eprom & digital part I guess ... & also the analog which is quite different too of the SDSV ...
It just seems a little more complex than what you can get with
the SDSV's relatively basic tools. But I had also read that he used
both SDSV and SDS-7 on that album.
>>>>> He did !
I actually picked up the Wembley DVD last week. I haven't looked too
close yet, but I did notice the SDS-7 pads by the keyboards (looks
like a Linndrum stacked by them also). Looks like Phil's main set was
mostly SDSV pads with a few SDS-7 for triggering other sounds (i.e. it
seemed like he mainly used the SDSVs for the edrum sound).
>>>>>> Yes the SDS7 pads were probably triggering Chester Thomson SDS7 brain ...
How likely is it to find an SDS-7 with original EPROMs/samples? Is it
even likely that you can get the same sound as a record that used the
SDS-7? Seems like with all the custom EPROMs that were made, you
probably couldn't ..
>>>> Well , most of the SDS7 sounds I could hear were from the basic library (delivered with the machine) .
only a few people took some time to sample via EPB Simmons or Oberheim ....But yes , the SDS7 parameters
could make it sound very different ...When you think of the mix of the digital & analog part ...
bye,
Patrice.
