Just received these responses to the questions I posed to Micro
Mark. The answers are inline with the questions below:
Hi.
A number of us on several large online forums have been discussing
the new Micro-Mark Pro Etch system that was announced in your most
recent catalog. We have several technical questions that we hope you
can route to the appropriate people.
1. What size (width / height) materials will the system handle? Does
it use the full 6" x 12" sheets in the laminator and in the etching
tank?
Answer: 3" X 3"
2. What is the maximum thickness of material that the system will
comfortably handle? The included materials are 0.005" thick. Will it
handle, say, 0.020" thick materials in the laminator and etching
tank?
Answer: 0.005" thick
3. Can you do double-sided etches? If the shown "Micro Mark" etch in
the catalog was done through this system, it appears that you can.
Answer: Yes
4. Is the "Micro Mark" etch, shown on the catalog front cover,
produced directly from this new system?
Answer: Yes
5. How "crisp" an image can we expect using an ink-jet? This is a
concern many folks have, as ink jets tend not to leave crisp edges,
unlike 1200dpi laser printers.
Answer: Very crisp
6. Will the ink jet film work in a laser printer, or is it ink jet
only? Is there an option for using high-resolution laser printers?
Answer: Inkjet film will not work with laser printer, inkjet only.
There is no option for high-resolution laser printer.
7. Can you possibly scan or photograph an etch and email the graphic
to me so I can see the crispness of detail?
Answer: Sorry, no
8. Can you send an electronic copy of the manual to me? It might
answer additional questions.
Answer: Sorry, not available separately.
Thank-you very much for your time. Any responses you provide will
help several hundred folks (mainly model railroaders) understand the
system and make purchasing decisions.
Pete
