Subject: Re: Pace Desoldering unit

Yes, I contacted Pace and APE.  APE carries spares for older Pace equipment.

A fellow at Pace sent me a copy of the manual for the PPS-100A power unit.  I have found the part numbers for all the stuff I need to make my handpieces work with thit, but so far, they all seem to be unobtanium from Pace, APE, Ebay, Google, etc. I think my best shot at making the vacuum hose fitting is to get some vacuum fittings from an auto parts store and making something that will work.

The reason I'm trying to make this thing work is that it was given to me, and I have a couple handpieces that will work with it if I can make the vacuum connection between them.  That should cost a lot less that a new desoldering station.  I already have a station that works well, and if I can make this one work, I'll have a second one for my other bench.  That way, I won't have to move all the paraphernalia from one place to the other when I need to change work spaces.  I've worked with Pace, Hakko and Weller equipment for many years, and am familiar with the strengths and weaknesses of them all.  Pace makes good stuff, so I'm not afraid to keep this guy around.

Cheers,

Dave M

Have you tried contacting Pace?

They probably supply repair parts. At least they should, considering
the outrageous prices they charge.

You may be better off just buying a new station from a less expensive
maker. I have a Tenma soldering station that works every bit as well
as my older Weller.
