>Mark, what sort of "pruning" did you have in mind? There is a program available on Linux -- maybe on Windows also? -- called pdftk that will let you manipulate pdf files all sorts of ways, including culling out pages. If only a few pages are relevant, this might be worth exploring.This might help.
