Subject: how to assemble a .4mm pitch QFP?

From: John McCormick <mcjonster@...>

I made a new PCB and have a .4mm pitch 128 pin device on it.  Any tips how to solder it with solder paste?

Usually I order a lasercut stencil out of mylar but at .4mm I think I will have a hard time placing it.
I placed a .65mm pitch piece a few times and I always smear the paste by the time I can get the chip in the right spot.
Usually it's not a problem as I can just use some solder wick or something but this time I am worried.
I'm thinking it would be better to glue the chip with krazy glue and place it first then use a syringe of solder paste on top of the pins.
This way I can guarantee the pins are lined up first before applying the paste.
Hopefully I won't get any shorts using this method.
Any comments/tips?
