Thank you all for the Laser printer info!
I bought a HP 1006 from Office Depot for $89.
Finished my project, a simple PIC controller for my solar LED light, above my work bench.
Used ExpressSCH and PCB to layout the board.
I downloaded DipTrace, free 250 pin ver, and tried it out, looks easy to use and it will give me the drill file so I could use my homemade drill table to drill all the holes.
I first tried to print on the Avery label sheet, with the labels removed, but the HP 1006 didn't print or smeared some traces. I printed 4 layouts on the same sheet, so I tried to iron two of the best ones on my CLEANED PCB.
They smeared or didn't stick. Cleaned the board and printed on the Staples Photo Basic gloss #471861 paper.
When I ironed it I first taped one side of the paper to a sheet of paper so when I put the iron on it wouldn't slide. Then I placed the board under the paper and placed the iron, set to HIGH, on the board. Let it set there for 2 minutes and then moved it a little for 2 more minutes. Used the iron tip to go over the traces, Note: Did this with out much pressure! It worked great. Also on the board was a test 8L uMAX/uSOP IC pad, 0.010 in traces.
Tried - 1 part Muriatic Acid and 2 parts Hydrogen Peroxide for my etchant. For the first time.
I will never ever go back to Ferric chloride again!!!!
Thanks again
Bob
