Subject: Fuser advice

Hi all,

I'm new to this group and have been lurking for a week or two. It's a
great source of information. I've been making my own PCBs for many years
and have tried just about every method from bituminous paint and a brush
(1960s) through stick-on letraset (1970s), resist pen (1980s), a
plotter (1990s) and now toner transfer using an iron, which I like very
much. I've done some quite complex single sided boards but would really
like to be able to make double sided ones. I've never done photo resist
and despite reading through the recent discussions here, don't think I
will take the plunge.

I use Protel Easytrax, the old DOS version that came into the public
domain when the commercial product went out the Windows. I print using a
HP laserjet 4L onto either Epson inkjet paper or more recently I've
discovered a clay coated paper from Officeworks here in Oz which is much
cheaper. I prefer ferric chloride which is surprisingly hard to get from
the endangered species of hobby elecronics suppliers down here.
Fortunately the anhydrous crystals are still avaliable from artists
suppliers for use in making etching plates.

One thing I've learnt from this group is about the use of laminators. I
like Stefan's double sided technique and want to try it ASAP so I am
looking into obtaining a laminator.

One question I have - some of the laminators I have seen for sale quite
cheaply have a variable temperature setting. Has anyone got any advice
about the desirable power and temperature rating of laminators?

Thanks,
