I went along to my local pet shop (in Stroud, UK) and bought a bubbler
which looks as though it is made of sintered silicon carbide. It is
about 4" long by 3/4" wide x 3/4" high and has a glass tube cemented
into one end. It is black in color. So far it has lasted well.

While I was waiting the contruction of the tank took place from glass and silicon sealer. Happy with the tank I installed some fish-tank blue air stones, filled it with ferric chloride, attached the pump and installed a heater. The ferric chloride promptly disolved the air stones. Any thoughts on what I should have used?
