C80 in California?

C80 in California?

2009-01-24 by ernest.meyer

HI folks

Are thre any here with a CS80 in California or Nevada who would let me
hear it being played?

A regular poster here, Max Fazio, has commissioned me to work on a
software emulation of the CS80 in Reaktor5. I made some emulations
which did exactly what the specifications and manuals stated, but the
behavior was not quite the same as the actual CS80, because they do
not describe without unambiguity all of its behavior. Actually being
able to copy a real machine would make alot of difference, but he does
not know anyone with a CS80 on the West Coast. Please?

Your best bet is to buy one --use it for a few months and resell after
the project finished
One just sold in LA yesterday

Sorry - wrong LA. It was in Louisiana, not Los Angeles. My next-door
neighbor's kid is in New Orleans, doing rebuilding work. I seriously
considered asking him if he'd pick it up for me since he drove there in
a van (actually, a converted ambulance - long story).

Anyway, I've personally worked on many CS80s in the Los Angeles area, so
it may be possible to "rent" one from one of our members. Possibly one
who's on his way to Australia...

Well if I win the California lottery, I could consider buying or
renting a CS80, but in the meanwhile I am wondering how to pay for the
gasoline to get to LA from here if there is somebody there willing to
help (I am in Sacramento). I am not Mr moneybags here, I am trying to
help on a shoestring budget. I would be willing to share any design
work, but that's all I can offer.
