You might want to give the GX-1 a try :-).

Seriously, I think a CS60 comes closest to the 80 in terms of performance, and even a CS50 can do a lot of the tricks -- if not the best, alas -- of the 80. If you´re only after the sound, these smaller model will do. 

A CS70M has about as much in common with a CS80 as, say, a Polymoog with a Memorymoog.

  I've only become obsessed with the CS-80 for the past several months...since I don't have $20k to throw down on one, what is the next best option? I've seen a lot of people talk about the CS-60 as the next best thing, but what about the CS-70m? Or is there another Yamaha CS model out there that I am missing?
