Did you try changing your sysex send interval timer in the XL?  That might 
help.  As for quickly getting rid of the factory patterns, I don't know of 
a "quick" way.  I just created a blank pattern with all of the Tracks set 
to the "Init Preset", and then used E-Loader to copy that into all of my 
pattern locations for one bank.  From there you can upload the entire 
bank, then download it across all User banks.  It's actually not as time 
consuming as it sounds, took me like 1/2 hour tops. :)

Backing up my patterns was a length process, however. Every so often, I 
would get a 'transfer failed' message from the E-loader, and have to 
reselect the patterns.  Does anyone have any ideas why this would occur?
