I remember something about it not booting if you didn't have it screwed completely back together? Hmmm, you took the rom out and tried to boot without it and it still wouldn't boot? If it does boot, then you may have a bad rom - Try taking the rom out, and booting with both cursor keys down, see if it loads debug functions. If it does then scroll to self test and try it out. If any of the tests pass your probably ok.
