Basically the easiest thing to do to make a pad sound is to change the "Amp Envelope" (Check out this article, it should help you understand what that means) http://www.sospubs.co.uk/sos/1994_articles/mar94/analoguesynthesis.html You can do this easily from the Quick Edit section (Second row of knobs) labeled Amp. A Pad is basically a sound that starts softly and grows louder (Attack knob), usually stays on while you keep holding the note, then gradually fades away either while you are holding it down or after you release the note. The different phases of this relate to ADSR or Atack Decay Sustain Release. Playing with the attack and the release will change the sound the most drastically. Another thing to play with is the filters after you have made the volume doing what you want. The idea with filters and pads is to get the pad out of the way of the rest of your music; in other words to fill in the gaps in you sonic spectrum, so you would want to filter out the part of the sound that gets in the way. Don't forget to save the sound when you're done though, and make sure you save the part in addition to the song or pattern... ;) Andre -----Original Message----- From: Erika [mailto:erika_ev1@...] Sent: Monday, March 17, 2003 1:32 PM To: xl7@yahoogroups.com Subject: [xl7] Re: Hmm so a good sound source compliment to the XL7?
