Actually, that's not entirely true you will end up paying sales tax. If you really want to pick up gear I suggest trying zZounds.com first. The Guitar Center in SF has a lot of good gear to play with, it will give you a chance to check out the waldorf stuff and the emu keyboards (They had em last time I was there.
