Actually, that's not entirely true you will end up paying sales tax.  If you
really want to pick up gear I suggest trying zZounds.com first.  The Guitar
Center in SF has a lot of good gear to play with, it will give you a chance to
check out the waldorf stuff and the emu keyboards (They had em last time I was
there.

If they don't have the gear you are looking for I suggest
www.musiciansfriend.com as they are partnered with G.C. I have been
shopping with them for years. In fact you could save some cash
becuase they are doing free shipping on items over 200 dollars and
there won't sales tax being that they are out of state.
