It's very cheap (computationally) and sounds equally bad. Which is good in some circumstances. =) As far as reproducing it, the RFX card for the E4 has a "Grungulator" plugin that can do sample rate conversion with many different modes (linear interpolation, sample-and-hold, impulse, etc) that sound very similar to the SP12. -Aaron PS. note that the SP12/1200 is a digital synth, albeit with analog filters (dedicated, fixed per output/drum) PPS.
