Re: [xl7] MP-7 and the PC

Well, sounds like you need a couple of things....the chain is only as
strong as its weakestlink. What you really need on your PC is a Sound
Blaster Audigy Platinum card(24bitDAC-$149.00 last time I checked, I paid
$199).

>>>If you're talking about weakest links I would NOT recommend any Sound
Blaster cards for serious audio work. For close to that price you could
get an Echo Mia and a M-Audio (Midiman) Midisport 1x1, which would give
much better audio specs, not too mention good ASIO WDM drivers too. Heck,
even the M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 will give you audio and midi with good
drivers for only $149. Sound Blaster cards are ok, but you can certainly
get a MUCH better card for the same or slightly more price. <<<

It has come with a front sound controller dock which puts midi ports on
the front of your PC!! How convienient.

>>>Only if you like staring at cables :) <<<

Most, well...damn near all cd players on earth can only read audio
recorded in 16bit format. If you want one that can go 24-32 bit you are
free to spend a grand or two on one

>>>Which CD players are capable of playing 24 bit CDs? And how do you
create a 24 bit audio CD? <<<

But back to the USB MP7/XL7 mystery...You need to upgrade your OS to get
USB to work...but you need USB
to Upgrade THE DAMN OS...ARGGHHHHH!! Kinda frustrating to most....

>>>NO, as has been stated here many times over the last few days, you can
ONLY update the OS currently by using the MIDI ports The USB functions of
both E-Loader and your current XX-7 OS will only support transfers of
pattern and song data. <<<

And please if you haven't plugged USB devices into your PCs before(just by
chance), please check your BIOS settings to make sure that the USB
function is "Enabled"...it serves as a on/off light switch for your USB.

>>>Just so people know before they start playing with their BIOS settings,
the default for almost all motherboards is ON, so you shouldn't need to
mess with this. <<<
