Years ago I programmed a great device (now extinct) called the MAPPER to (with the click of a footswitch) change a MIDI keyboard to a program send device using a layout that was similar to what I described here. Or, in the case of the XL7, it could be a dual command key press, or something. At any rate - the MAPPER program was fantastic and allowed me to do things live that otherwise would not have been possible - i.e.lightening fast/non-linear prg.changes. We used this concept for all of the other MIDI players oin the band and from that point of view it defined the tour. Back to XL7 - being able to assign Patterns to the keys, and then switch patterns rhythmically is a great way to create unusual syncopations and breaks, and from my point of view much easier than the wheel. any other takers? thanks gv > > To: xl7@y... > cc: > Subject: [xl7] OS/Pads function > > > Just curious to get any feedback on these ideas: > > 1) A function that changes the Play Pads to a numeric keypad - i.e. > from C-C: (0 - 9) + (ENTER) + (PLUS) and (MINUS).
