Oh. Interesting. I think that's different to what the manual claims
(and also different to my recollection) - I'll check as soon as I've
got my XL-7 back in the studio.

Internal. (I use the XL-7 as a clock master to drive other external
sequencers and pattern generators.) A pattern of simple 16th notes
will often sound quite bad, with definite glitches in timing; at other
times the pattern will sound acceptable, although still worse than
(say) my Roland R-8II.

I'm going to pipe the audio into Digital Performer and look at the
waveform timings, to see what the drift actually is.
