The patterns are grouped into styles, 16 patterns per style. I found 16 patterns a reasonable limit to work within and treated "styles" as if they were songs comprised of 16 patterns or less. In that context, switching patterns is glitch free. One aspect of the RS7000 that I found very useful was the 5 mute memories. You can do things like break a pattern into two 8 track sequences that run at the same time, and switch between the two at any time without resetting the pattern back to beat 1:0:0 by toggling the track mute status(s). I.E. Toggle between tracks 1-8 muted and tracks 9-16 muted by tapping a button. A setup like that is very flexible and a lot of fun to play in real time. Stuff like midi based echo and swing can be tweaked [non-destructively] in real time, and can be applied to one track, tracks 1-8, tracks 9-16 or all tracks at once. Slave the xx7 to the RS7000 and leverage the xx7 rompler capabilities and you have one heck of a hybrid system for live work. Jeff
