Adding accents to beats/arps/sequences using modulation patchcords

2011-04-04 by vthalborg

Hi, and thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum!

I have been trying to modulate arps/beats/sequences to shift (change) accents (volume) from certain steps in the arp/beat/sequence to other steps, to create effects similar to those heard in the minimalism of for example, Steve Reich. Many of his pieces consist of patterns that are repeated over and over but with the accents constantly changing.

Given the depth and flexibility of the Command Station's modulation architecture, I thought it would be possible to do this through the modulation patchcords.

So far, I have had some limited success, being able to make changes of groups of steps but ideally I would be able to control volume (amp) on each single step in the arp/beat/sequence pattern.

So if anyone has any ideas about how this is done on the CS, I would love to know.
