Hi, several days ago I started a reply, but decided to test the solution before posting. I ran into some snags because of the flexibility of OS2.0--basically, you can set things up in a variety of ways. The bottom line is this: depending on what you want, you might not need a "hub" [thru box, midi router]. There are some settings in the CS/P2500 MIDI menu system to transmit various midi data, including a MERGE MIDI IN TO OUT. This setting might be helpful to you, depending on your midi wiring. Also, the MicroQ may have a midi out/thru you can use. (I looked at the manual a few days ago, but forgot the details.) If most of your CS tracks will be external or both, you will probably want to set up a pattern template and store it at slot 000^0. You will need to store "dummy" data on the tracks so that the channel destination for empty tracks don't default to internal." [Search the archives for "dummy" for more discussion of this. If you have figured out a solution already, great. Let us know how you decided to set it up. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "sdorange" <scott.orange@...> wrote: > > Are you sure this needs a MIDI "hub" ? Unless you have two MIDI inputs on the MicroQ that's not possible with your current setup. A number of manufacturers have made products capable of merging MIDI traffic from multiple sources to a single output (eg roland A550/A880 or kawai MM-16). They show up periodically on ebay and that would be your best bet. > > > > --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "sdorange" <scott.orange@> wrote: > > > > > > Massimo, > > > > > > Thanks for responding! Can that be done within my current setup? > > > > > > Much thanks, > > > --Scott > > > > > > --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, massimo <massenmedium@> wrote: > > > > > > > > Yes. > > > > > > > > Best thing to do probably is to connect the OUT from the EPS to the IN on the XL-7. Then connect one of the OUTs from the XL-7 to the IN on the Micro-Q. If you also want to control the EPS with XL-7 you could simply connect the other OUT to the IN on the EPS. Or alternatively the THRU from the Micro-Q to the IN on the EPS. > > > > > > > > You might want to turn the 'LOCAL' keyboard setting on the EPS to OFF if you don't want it to always play from it's keyboard unless you have selected an appropriate channel on the XL-7. That way it can act as a controller and also be controlled from the XL-7. If you select a channel on the XL-7 that the EPS is set to recognise, it will play. > > > > > > > > Hope that makes some sense to ya. > > > > > > > > Massimo > > > > > > > > --- On Sat, 25/7/09, sdorange <scott.orange@> wrote: > > > > > > > > From: sdorange <scott.orange@> > > > > Subject: [xl7] XL-7 newbie question - connecting to keyboard + rack synth > > > > To: xl7@yahoogroups.com > > > > Date: Saturday, 25 July, 2009, 6:47 AM > > > > > > > > I'm just getting started with the XL-7 and want to use it to generate beats as well as sequence a Waldorf Micro Q (rack), which is connected to an Ensoniq EPS keyboard. > > > > > > > > Can I control the Micro Q using the Command Station, and still use the keyboard to play the Micro Q?
