Re: [xl7] Someone else who can't figure out Proteus VX

Vista has it's issues BUT once configured properly, it really works quite well, esp if you install the Service Pack 1 update-really fixes most of the problem ridlded-probably released too soon- OS. It's more like a new OS install than a service pack....anyway there is a lot of info on using audio cards and audio interfaces with Vista and one that helps a lot is on the Echo audio site (www.echoaudio.com) related to their firewire cards but really touches on the vista/audio issues related to any type interface. Vista uses "Core Audio" and is a different approach to dealing with audio than previous OS's like XP. You might also check out the Sonar (Cakewalk) site as there is a lot of Vista related info there. Also search for Core Audio on the net-I am assuming you have a Vista driver from EMU , if not you may be dead in the water.

I purchased an E-mu USB 0404 to interface the laptop with my hardware, and it came with a nice bundle of software that included a CD entitled 'Proteus VX Software/Manual Installation CD-Rom.' The first time I tried to install it, nothing happened... the second time, as far as I can tell, it installed properly, but nothing happens when I try to launch it. I looked around the web to see if there were any issues with Vista, and the reaction was about 50/50 as to if it would work or not... anybody here have any ideas on getting it to work with Vista? Looks like there should be a lot of good stuff on that disc, and I'd love to use it.
