Emu XL-7 & MP-7 User's Group

if i go into
 	preset edit --> audition riff

i can select "XL7" and get a list of the factory audition riffs. i can 
also select "User", but instead of a list i see "(not installed)".

obvious question: how do i write my own riffs and save them into a user 
riff?

the closest thing i can find is recording a preset riff into a pattern, 
but that's the opposite of what i want to do.
