Re: [xl7] Re: PATCHCORDS !!!

2008-12-01 by Mauricio Balma

Patchcords programming on the command stations is very interesting, my complaint is that sometimes the range of values is very "innacurate" , you are supposed to have, on some of the patchcords, a range of -100, 0 +100, but you can use that range. You move the knob just a little bit, and you already used all the tweaking range.
For example, if you connect the LFO1 with the Pitch, you should wait for a paulatine transition on the PITCH while you move the knob assigned to that patchcord from left to right. But the change is not paulatine, but drastic. Suddenly you reached the peak value without reaching the 25% percent of the knob range....
There are so much tips for patchcord. I love the white and pink functions, but again, It's like having only 0 and 1 values, Yes and No, True and False, and not a wide range of values to be positioned.
Cool tips can be getting only by EXPERIMENTATION. I love to work with the start time, for example, you have on the 4 layers, the same four instruments, so there is like a cancelation effect when using exactly the same values.
For example on MIDI A, assign KNOB A to the sample start. On the LAYER 1, MIDI A ---->samplestart +2,on LAYER 2 MIDI A ----->samplestart +5, on LAYER 3----> samplestart +9.......
On tthe samplestart I heard a nice transition, and on each knob position, you hear a different value, and the sound changes on an interesting way when using the same instrument.
BTW, is a shame that there's no patchcord for the sample delay, one of the coolest patchprogramming features on the command station.
Also, you can assign a LFO random to the samplestart, leaving tbe patchcord on ZERO, but activating that chord with a MIDI controller.

This is pretty neat, thanks.

Perhaps you might consider posting a copy to the Files section?
Yahoo's message display kind of mashes it all together, on this
browser, so a file download might look better.
