Remember, you can use the MP-7 as a MIDI player, without worrying
about pattern or song lengths.  Were it me, I'd play the MIDI on the
computer with patch changes and such disabled (depends on how your
software handles it,) send that MIDI to the MP-7, and fiddle with each
channel's patch on the MP-7 until it sounds right.

To do a bit more drastic remixing, I'd then select chunks of the song,
8, 16, 32 bars apiece -- whatever sounds right -- and upload them as
patterns.  Then they'd be ready for live remixing, as you hop from
pattern to pattern, perhaps looping within patterns and swapping parts
of patterns back and forth.

I'd make sure the patterns had the patches I wanted ahead of time, but
there are probably ways around that.  I do know that song mode has a
setting where individual patterns don't reset the patches.
