Re: Sequencing Beats mode?

2006-04-07 by steve_the_composer

You can record arps patterns and riff patterns into a sequence by
taking the midi out and looping it back into your E-Mu's midi it. I
have done it with non-beats riffs and I assume you can do it with
beats riffs. (Beats are special, multichannel riffs.) My guess is
that you would probably have to record it with the track assigned to
record either MultiA or MultiB.

In any case, you need to make sure the box is sending riffs out via
midi. (I think its in the arps menu system, not the midi menu system.)

I doubt I will have time to test this and to jot down the steps to
perform, but I hope there's enough here to get you going in the right
direction. You might want to start simple:

1. loop the midi out-->midi in
2. change the setting so riffs are transmitted via midi
3. record a 4 bar audition riff into a pattern (say for example on
Channel C01A).

Once you have that setup working, try a bts: preset and record it with
the track assigned to MultiA [or MultiB] instead of a single channel.
My gut says make sure rechannelize if Off, but that might not be right.

It might be explained in either the FAQ sheet or the Tips sheet in the
files section here.

Of course, one other option is to record the beats triggers into a
sequence and have the sequencer play the beats preset directly. Keep
in mind you have several beats controller/patchcord functions you can
play around with.

Hope this helps.
