To "play" a midi file containing sysex bulk data [presets] using Windows XP, try the following: 1. Click: Start | Control Panel | Speech, Sounds, and Audio Devices 2. Click: Sounds and Audio Devices 3. Select the Audio Tab 4. In the MIDI section [MIDI music playback] select your midi out port. This will cause any MIDI files played in Windows Media Player to go out the selected MIDI port. *** Be sure to change it back to your audio source when done--unless you want all midi files to play to you gear. *** I just ran a test. Even though I don't have the TCSY ROM, the method was successful for the P2500. Here's what I did after doings steps 1 - 4 above: 5. Downloaded a sysex-patchbank-saved-as-mid file (saved it to the desktop). 6. Started Windows Media Player. 7. Dragged the sysex-patchbank-saved-as-mid file to WMP The midi file played automatically and sent the preset data out the port I had selected in steps 1 - 4 above into the E-Mu, Hope this helps. --Steve --- In xl7@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@p...> wrote: > A few years ago I tested using Windows media player (Win98SE) for > sending sysex data to gear.
