the firewirecard gets power by the port, the headphones dont need power at 
all.
i didnt say that id like to record on the street, in parks... with a laptop 
i can do this [with a dinamic mic if the card has an mic preamp]
further i can move around without a car for dj proposales...

What kind of flightcase and monitor do you use to have the same weight than 
a laptop?

a shuttle-case based PC is no heavier than a laptop if you add in the
weight of the external PS....what other part of your rig works
unplugged? If you are using a FW box you are most certainly going to
need AC for that - USB will not allow you the functionality that you
are seeking
