If you're trying to salvage something that would be difficult to recreate, I'd suggest outputting what you have to a computer sequencer (if available) and finalizing the sequence in there. You can then dump it back to the XL7 if you need to do live playback or something. Or you could build a new pattern chain and then overlay the salvaged song track data, maybe... I don't know anything about the internal workings of the sequencer code, but it sounds like the song mode step insert bug might be some kind of linked-list funkiness where it's forgetting to update its references. Odd that it works most of the time. I guess song mode is more of a sketchpad or sequence-player at best. Too bad, but I agree with Aaron, XMix was a better use of resources, because you can cover song mode's inadequacies with a computer sequencer, in a pinch.
