Speaking of which, does anyone know of a place that sells these cables
premade (for routing external audio to the main outs), or do I need to
break out my soldering iron? I'm too lazy to look in the manual, there, I
said it. :)

Sebastien,
The MP7, PX7, XL7, and Proteus 2500 all are like the Proteus 2000 in
that you can't input
audio into it for further processing. However, they all have send/return
type FX loops, that will
send incoming audio straight to the main outs if you configure your cables
in the correct way.
