Once I got my USB port up and running with E- Loader 1.1(Win98SE), it was useful to transfer songs and patterns between the computer and the E-Mu (faster than midi). Also, if your computer-->E-Mu midi setup is not a closed loop, the usb hookup is handy for uploading and downloading smfs (patterns and songs). As I've commented before, you can have both midi and usb hooked up at the same time--even on two different machines. As for transferring or editing presets, yeah--its useless.
