Subject: [xl7] USB problem
Hi all,
I just bought a second hand XL7 and I'm quite happy with it for the
moment. It looks like what I need (a sequencer for live situation).
Now, I got a pb with the USB recognition in Windows XP. When I plug
the usb cable into my fully booted XL7, I got the message to install
new hardware but when I point to the USB folder, windows says that it
cannot find any information for my device. I tried to manually update
the driver and it didn't work either. I even right-click the .ini
files and chose 'install' but that didn't work either...
I'm not a beginner in computer and Windows, but i cannot solve that
problem. I searched the oemxx.ini files in the Windows INF forlder,
to delete the one that might refer to the 'unknow USB device' but I
couldn't find one. Did someone experienced that pb ?
I'm on XP pro Service pack 1, Asus a7n8x-x mobo, with nvidia chipset.
Also, when I pluged the usb cable on the XL7, I noticed that the usb
connector on the command station was 'moving'. I opened the station
and noticed that the connector isn't hold by anything, except for
four 'legs' that are part of the connector and are soldered on the
board. Is that a know issue ? I add that the xl7 is in mint
condition, so I doubt it has suffered damages from the previous user.
Furthermore I guess that if the connector wouldn't be working,
Windows wouldn't start the install process when I plug the cable into
the XL7, right ??
I hope that someone can help me. Not that I couldn't do without the
USB connector(since apart from speeding the sequence transfer it's
worthless)...
Oh, and yeah, my XL7 is os 2.00 and eloader is 1.1
One more question: since E-mu discontinues its command station, and
will even turn to software product only (from what i've understood),
will there still be some support and os update in the future ?
Thanx a lot
Cheers
