Just FYI... I think CC#11 is still "Expression". It is probably a great choice for a task like this. On older synths it simply replicated the same function as CC#7 - "Volume" by default. No need for duplicate controllers, so it's a good candidate if that assumption is still true. Not sure of it's default use on the xx-7s.
