As for roms the protean drums(px-7 rom) is a must, the xtreme lead is nice, and if you added the TSCY and Beat Garden you will have the orbit 3 soundset. I am not sure why the px-7 is the best model. Who doesn't love purple and yellow. I looked a musicians friend and sure enough the px-7 is $100 cheaper than the MP-7, $200 cheaper than the 2500 (less buttons more cost?) and the xl-7 was not even listed, how unusual. It looks like e-mu has raised their prices... $995 I heard rumors last fall about people finding command stations for around $300. You might want to shop around. Contact me when you want some roms:) Good luck you will be happy with any command station you choose, but the mp-7 patterns and soundset are not really geared toward dance, however you can tweak it to do whatever you want.
