can someone explain why this does not work ....

if i set up two patterns and record in a sequencer( sonar ) the
events that i do .. ie the process in which i change the
patterns ..when i go back and playback the sequence that i have
recorded the pattern change does not take place ..
there is definately a huge string of systex data recorded during the
change but its does not take palce ..???
