Subject: [xl7] HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!
Confession: My E-Mu is actually a P2500 with XL ROM
BUT
Even though it has never been on the road and always got tender
loving care,
IT SEEMS TO HAVE DIED!!!!!!!!
(or maybe just developed a hea[r]t condition!!)
About 2 weeks ago I installed it in a rack for playing out. I have
not taken it out yet!
Last night, the E-Mu audio cut out and then started resetting a
couple of times. It came back up and I thought all was OK (HA!!).
This AM it booted OK, then did the same thing, except it doesn't boot
fully. Other symptoms: upon power up, there is a short (approx 1
sec) sound (like an env with a ramp attach and then a sharp
release/decay) plus several pops corresponding with display chnages.
After the crash first happened the E-Mu would stall at various points
in the boot process. But just now it powered up fully twice and is
performing as normal. Of course, I expect a hea[r]t attack any
moment.
Has anyone had this type of problem? Any solutions (other than
trashing it)? Thanks.
Dr. Steve
