Lately I've been writing the basics of my patterns on the XL-7, and then I use E-Loader to get the pattern data into my computer. From there it gets imported into Cubase 5.1 so I can fine tune things and draw the rest of it in on the large screen. I set it so that my L and R locators are on each end of the pattern data, and then set it to loop 8 measures (the length of the pattern). But everytime it loops back to the beginning of the pattern, playback stutters a bit, and it takes about 2 or 3 beats until it gets synced up again. I've tried a bunch of setting in cubase, and I've never had this problem before with it working this way with other gear, so I dno't think it's Cubase, but rather the XL-7. Is it just getting too much data at the beginning of the pattern? I never have any glitching when I switch patterns on the fly with just the XL-7, so that seems weird. Also, in Cubase I can mute all but a! c! ouple tracks, and I still get the stuttering, so I don't think it's a MIDI bandwidth issue either. What exactly is being transmitted at the beginning of the pattern each time? Is there sysex there, or is this part of that Tick 0 and Tick 1 issue? Anyone else seen this? Ideas?
I use the MIDI port on my Echo Layla24 BTW, if that matters at all.
