Thanks That Worked ... Although it was very intensive trying to find instruments to match what was intended it was a very good exercise and somewhat inspirational.

ROMs have INSTRUMENTs [sample data]
ROMs have PRESETS [parameter data]
ROMs may also have DEMO SEQUENCES [sequence data]
For each layer {L1, L2, L3, L4] in any preset you can assign any ROM
INSTRUMENT from any ROM physically located in your E-Mu. So, you can
take an MP preset and point any layer to use the sample data from any
other ROM INSTRUMENT in your E-Mu.
If you like what you have, you can save the preset as a user preset.
If you then remove the ROM that has the sample data your user preset
uses, that layer will not work.
I hope this helps.
ADDENDUM: How to do it:
1. Select Edit Preset
2. Go to the second menu [INSTRUMENT]
3. Select the layer you want to change
4. Cursor right once [ROM]
5. Select the ROM you want
6. Select the ROM INSTRUMENT you want
Note: you can select ROM INSTRUMENT by
--number
--prefix
--name
So if you want to test a different kit: or prc: sample,
select that prefix and cursor right to scroll through the various
kit: or prc: samples. Samples will be displayed based on the order
they are found in the ROM, beginning with the lowest ROM ID.
Hope this helps.
