Computerwise, ROM ID [Bank MSB], Bank LSB, and Preset number make up the logical address of parameter data which the E-Mu synth engine uses to create audio. The logical address is/functions as/points to a "location." Sequencers [on board and external] "point" to the "location" of the preset [data]. By physical location you evidently mean the slot in which the ROM sits. Not trying to be pedantic, just trying to clarify two different uses of the word "location."
