Not to speak for Grant, but he has often amourously reflected on his
Synthi experiences of the past....

I have both, and they're both great but different.

The Synthi is usually (depending on mods, age,
condition) a lot less stable and predictable than the
Wiard. But both are excellent sonic playgrounds where
experimentation and chance can play a part of the
creative process. It's just that chance (which
includes things like room temperature, the number of
pins in the board, etc.) often plays a bigger role
with a Synthi -whether you want it to or not.

I've never owned an EMS, but I've messed around with them a few times (and
I got to briefly experience a wall-sized 100 in a German studio earlier
this month!), so I'm not really speaking from experience. But before I
bought a Wiard system, an EMS was at the top of my synthesizer want list,
and upon receiving the Wiard, it pretty much dropped off. I realize that
they're hardly identical, but I can get extremely close to nearly all of
the EMS sounds I hear on recordings with it (well, I haven't tried them
*all*, but you know what I mean...). But I would be very curious to hear
from folks who have done side-by-side comparisons (including Grant?).

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
