What do you guys think of this module? Is it worth getting if you have other ADSR's already? Anything really special? Thanks, Aaron

Hi Aaron --- In wiardgroup@yahoogroups.com, "wiardguy" <wiardguy@y...> wrote: > What do you guys think of this module? Is it worth getting if you have other ADSR's already? in a word: YES!!! definitely a vanilla ADSR with static manual control over the 4 parameters is, pretty much, a one-trick pony The envelator is anything but... But your other replies have covered it's multiple personalities already. I would add that, just by naming this gadget an 'envelator', Grant biases the users perception into applying it strictly as an envelope generator - (but of course he had to call it SOMETHING didn't he?) My point is that i spent MONTHS 'discovering' applications for this thing once i quit thinking of it as a hot-rod EG. Others have drawn a comparison to the wonderful Serge DSG module (which i love so well that i bought 3 of them) and that comparison is probably the best one IMHO. All of the functions of the DSG are available and more. which brings me to... > Anything really special? > the feature that is really special to me is the SPEED of this critter. As i mentioned i own a bunch of DSG's which are very 'snappy' in their ramp up & down times. But in hard, side-by-side comparisons, the Envelator is always the last one standing in the quickdraw shootout contests i've conducted. i routinely use the fastest settings on the DSG's for percsussive envelopes. On the envelator i usually have to SLOW the attack DOWN to get the same effects. i sometimes wonder if the attack isn't ramping up BEFORE the trigger!!! ;'> hope this helps get an envelator - you won't be bored! best regards, -doc
