Custom Wiard Cabinet

Hello all. I just posted two pictures in the photos section that show the cabinet that I made for my Wiard system. My Grant Richter Shrine is nearly complete! ;-> A design inspired from the Blue Meanie Arp 2600 of old, this cabinet was fabricated from three pieces of aluminum the same thickness as the Wiard faceplates. The top, back and bottom are made from folding a single piece, and then the two end pieces were welded in place. Because the ends are welded, the cabinet exhibits excellent rigidity, while the folds in the metal provide plenty of torsional integrity without the use of internal bracing. Two aluminum extrusions designed to hold square 4-40 nuts (from the Vector catalog) were attached to mount the modules flush to the cabinet. The projected weight of the system, when all modules are mounted will be less than twenty pounds. Transporting this unit will be done via an rectangular anvil case, which will allow the system and power supply to be moved with patchcord and knob settings intact. Bill Maguire is the gentleman who realized the metalwork from my cryptic drawings. Peter Grenader (old friend, partner in crime) helped me get the unit powder coated, and Grant provided the power supply in the nifty blue-anodized box. I will post another photo when all the modules are in. (FYI, two Sequantizers, another Borg Filter and a Woggle Bug go where the blank panel goes). Gary Chang
